Simple Chocolate Cake


 

  • 1/2 cup butter 
  • 2/3 cup sugar 
  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 1/2 cup milk 
  • 2 eggs 
  • 2 'tablespoon cocoa 
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence 


  1. Prepare a moderate oven 180 C
  2. Grease well a 16 1/2 cm deep round tin.
  3. Line base with a round of greaseproof or greased brown paper.
  4. Sift flour and cocoa into a mixing bowl. Add sugar, eggs, milk and essence.
  5. Melt the butter over gentle heat. 
  6. Pour into ingredients in bowl and beat hard for 3 minutes. 
  7. Pour into tin and bake for 1 hour or until judged cooked.
  8. Cool on cake cooler. 
  9. When cold ice if desired.
