Bread Sauce


  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped onion
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 2 cloves
  • 1/2 cup soft white breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  1. Combine onion, nutmeg, cloves, and milk and bring very slowly to almost boiling, stand near heat for 15 minutes. 
  2. Strain, and return the liquid to the saucepan.
  3. Add breadcrumbs, butter, and salt. beat well with a fork.
  4. Serve hot with roast chicken or turkey.
